motivated, experienced Assistant Director to help lead our
Quality Rated childcare center and support our mission of providing a safe, nurturing, and high-quality learning environment.
Position Summary
The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director to lead daily operations, implement program standards required by the Quality Rating framework, coach and mentor teaching staff, and ensure compliance with licensing and accreditation requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will both manage and participate in classroom activities, staff development, and family engagement.
Duties Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director in day-to-day program management and leadership tasks.
- Lead implementation and monitoring of the program’s Quality Improvement Plan and maintain documentation required for Quality Rated assessments.
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate teaching staff; conduct regular classroom observations and provide constructive feedback and professional development.
- Coordinate and document staff training, ensuring required credentials (CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter, SIDS, etc.) are current.
- Maintain and organize evidence and files for Quality Rated and licensing reviews (lesson plans, assessment data, staff qualifications, health & safety logs).
- Oversee curriculum fidelity and alignment with state early learning standards; support inclusive, developmentally appropriate practices.
- Ensure health, safety, and sanitation protocols are followed (including supervising cleaning schedules, injury/incident reporting, and supply management).
- Manage class schedules, substitute coverage, and staff assignments to maintain appropriate ratios.
- Support enrollment management, intake processes, and family communication/partnerships.
- Participate in budget tracking and resource allocation as directed by the Director.
- Assist with program evaluation and data-driven decision making (child outcomes, family feedback, staff performance metrics).
- Respond to emergencies and follow up on incident reports; maintain compliance with licensing regulations.
- Represent the program at community meetings and Quality Rated/QRIS related trainings when needed.
Working Conditions
- This role is active and may involve lifting, bending, sitting on the floor, and supervising outdoor play.
Requirements Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (or related field) required
- Minimum 2 years of childcare leadership or supervisory experience
- Knowledge of Georgia’s Quality Rated system strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Must meet all state licensing requirements (background check, training, etc.)
Nice To Haves Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with classroom observation tools (e.g., CLASS, ECERS) and using observation results to support teacher growth.
- Familiarity with state early learning standards and child assessment systems.
- Experience developing or implementing program improvement plans.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English or other) a plus.
- Experience supervising infant/toddler rooms and knowledge of age-specific health and safety needs.
